A wealthy but lowborn cobbler, the High Sparrow swore off earthly possessions and devoted himself to the Faith of the Seven, the dominant religion of Westeros. His unassuming appearance contrsted with his powerful position as head the Faith. With the permission of Cersei Lannister, the High Sparrow reinstated the Faith Militant, a once-banned religious order that fanatically guarded the purity of the Faith and administered the justice of the gods. He then engineered an alliance with King Tommen and Queen Margaery, increasing his power. Present in the Sept of Baelor for Cersei's trial, the High Sparrow was among those killed in the explosion.

The brutish jailer who oversaw Cersei's confinement, Septa Unella finally extracted a confession from her prisoner. Cersei got her revenge by imprisoning Unella after the explosion at the Sept of Baelor - and putting Ser Gregor Clegane in charge of her captivity.

Lancel Lannister

Lancel Lannister

First cousin and a former lover of Cersei Lannister, lancel served as Robert Baratheon's squire. He swore himself to the Faith of Seven after suffering a grave injury during the Battle of the Blackwater. After Littlefinger told Olenna of Lancel's past activities, she used the information to force Lancel to confess his sins to the High Sparrow, who then had Cersei imprisoned. Lancel died uncovering the stash of wildfire Cersei used to destroy the Sept of Baelor.

Before it was disbanded centuries ago, the Faith Militant enforced the words of The Seven-Pointed Star, the religion's book of scripture, and answered to the High Septon. The Faith Militant was reinstated by Cersei Lannister, who put the army in service to the High Sparrow.
