Season VI52: Home

➲ Full History

The Three-Eyed Raven accompanies Bran Stark into the past, to a Winterfell in the height of summer. Bran, no longer crippled, watches as 12-year-old Ned Stark and his 7-year-old brother Benjen train with wooden swords. Young and spirited Lyanna Stark rides in on horseback then gives the reins to a stable boy, Wylis, whom Bran recognizes as a young Hodor – but he can talk. The Three-Eyed Raven pulls a resistant Bran from the scene, and warns him not to allow his “great gift” to consume him.

Outside the cave, Bran cautions Meera that she isn’t safe in the open, but Meera remains where she is. Leaf, a Child of the Forest, tells the girl that Bran won’t be practicing his visions forever, and once he leaves he will need Meera’s help.

Bran Stark

You must long for the next life.” –Jaime Lannister

At a tavern in King’s Landing, a peasant lewdly describes his part in Cersei’s walk of atonement. Staggering outside to relieve himself, the man looks up to find the Mountain, who crushes his skull.

Cersei, in mourning clothes, heads to the Sept, but is blocked by a group of Lannister guards. King Tommen has ordered that his mother remain in the Red Keep for her own safety, barring her from Myrcella’s funeral. Cersei and the Mountain tensely face-off with the captain and his men, but the Queen Mother returns to her quarters.

Jaime Lannister

Tommen and Jaime Lannister stand over Myrcella’s body, discussing the search for Prince Trystane’s killers. Tommen believes Cersei may be responsible, but has kept her from the funeral for another reason: the Faith Militant won’t allow her inside the Sept. Jaime comforts the young king, and urges him to reconcile with his mother. As Tommen leaves, Jaime confronts the High Sparrow. He makes it clear he has no qualms about killing the holy man inside the Sept, but restrains himself when the Faith Militant appear.

“A girl is not a beggar anymore.” –Jaqen H’ghar

Arya Stark

On the streets in Braavos, the Waif shows up to give Arya another “lesson.” Beaten again, Arya hears Jaqen H’ghar ask who she is. “A girl has no name,” she struggles to repeat, even when offered the return of her sight. Still blind, but having passed his test, Arya follows the Faceless Man back to the House of Black and White.

“It’s time they had their supper.” –Tyrion Lannister

With no information about the burning of the Meereenese fleet, Tyrion drinks, and asks Varys for other news. Varys tells him that the masters of Astapor and Yunkai have retaken their cities. Inquiring after Dany’s dragons, Tyrion discovers the two imprisoned beasts have stopped eating and, still tipsy, Tyrion decides to unchain them himself.

Tyrion Lannister

Once in the dragons' keep, Tyrion recounts his fascination with the beasts as a boy. He slowly removes the collar on Rhaegal, and is shocked as Viserion turns his head to request the same. Intimidated, Tyrion finishes the job and chastises Varys for letting him try it.

“I am Lord Bolton.” –Ramsay Bolton

Lord Harald Karstark reports to Roose and Ramsay Bolton that the soldiers pursuing Sansa Stark have been found dead. Assuming she is headed north, Ramsay suggests they storm Castle Black, causing his father to scoff. Maester Wolkan interrupts with news of the birth of a healthy baby boy, prompting congratulations from Ramsay. Embracing his father, Ramsay then plunges a dagger into Roose’s heart. Ramsay orders Wolkan to send Lady Walda and her newborn son to the courtyard, then leads them into the kennels. Walda begs to be allowed to return to the Riverlands with her son, but Ramsay, unmoved, releases his hungry hounds.

Ramsay Bolton

Making their way through the northern woods, Brienne shares with Sansa her run-in with Arya Stark. Theon, knowing he can “never make amends” for his betrayal of her family, tells Sansa he cannot go with her to Castle Black, and departs for “home.”

“I am the storm.” –Euron Greyjoy

Yara Greyjoy challenges her father, advocating peace for the Iron Islands. Heading out into a storm, Balon begins crossing a rope bridge to another Pyke tower, when he is stopped by a hooded figure. Revealing himself as Euron Greyjoy, the king’s younger brother declares he has come for the throne. The elderly king taunts Euron for going mad while at sea, cutting out the tongues of his men: “What kind of an Ironborn loses his senses during a storm?” Balon snatches a dagger and dives at his brother, but Euron quickly tosses the king off the bridge to his death.

Ramsay Bolton

Yara and her uncle Aeron oversee Balon’s funeral. As the body floats out to sea, Yara swears upon the Salt Throne she will avenge his murder. Aeron harshly reminds his niece that according to law, she must be voted onto the throne

“I am asking the woman who showed me that miracles exist.” –Davos Seaworth

As Thorne-loyalists begin to break into the Lord Commander’s chamber, a loud noise is heard from the main gate; Wun Wun, Tormund, and the other wildings rush in. Alliser attempts to rally the Night’s Watch, but the giant has successfully cowed the Thorne supporters. Edd orders the mutineers be locked up. Tormund examines Jon, and leaves to gather wood for a pyre.

Ed and Tormund

Ser Davos enters Melisandre’s chamber to find she has been crying. When Davos asks if the priestess has the power to revive the Lord Commander, she doubts her own abilities. Urged to try, Melisandre chants and prays over Jon's bathed corpse, with Davos, Tormund and Edd watching, but eventually gives up.

Defeated, the group withdraws from the chamber. Only Ghost is present when Jon opens his eyes and breathes.
